Public potato breeding progress for the Nordic Region of Europe: evidence from multisite testing of selected breeding clones and available released cultivars

The breeding of new cultivars is a powerful approach to increase both the quantity and quality potato harvest per land unit. aim this research was determine using multi-site testing progress made by genetic enhancement in Sweden last 1.5 decades comparing advanced clones (T4 upwards) bred (Svensk potatisförädling hereafter) versus available released Europe grown its Nordic Region. results show that based Scandinavia offers growers Region for prevailing farming environments end-user needs rather than relying, as happens today market, on foreign cultivars.
